Today (June 30, 2026) is the beginning of the Jupiter in Leo transit that will continue until July 26, 2027. The largest planet in our solar system is traveling through the most radiant, big-hearted sign of the zodiac. If you have felt like something in you has been waiting for permission to show up fully, this transit is going to open doors for your endeavors and bring lucky opportunities to discover and use your creative gifts while also having fun (or a romance?).
Jupiter is the planet of expansion, opportunity, faith, and abundance. Wherever it travels, it amplifies, taking what is already alive in you and grows it beyond what you thought possible. Leo, which is ruled by the Sun, is the sign of the heart, creativity, courage, generosity, and the drive to express what is essentially true about who you are. But its shadow aspect is the ego, with its self-centered need for validation and recognition. When these two forces combine, the result is not subtle. It is a year-long invitation to stop playing small, which is great for self-expression as long as you don’t get carried away by your ambitions.
In Greek mythology, Jupiter was Zeus, the king of the gods, and we know that the lion is the king of the jungle. In a nutshell, this transit is about self-empowerment and expansion. When Jupiter moves through Leo, you stop waiting. Creative projects (or children) that have been in the back of your mind suddenly feel viable, almost urgent, and worth working for. The last time Jupiter was in Leo, from July 2014 to August 2015, we saw an explosion of individual voices stepping into cultural visibility. Creative entrepreneurship surged, people built audiences, launched passion projects, and found that sharing their perspective attracted exactly the community they were hoping for. That same energy is back, and it is layered now with a collective that has spent years navigating uncertainty and contraction. The desire to create, to lead with heart, and to be seen for who we truly are becomes necessary.
If you have Leo placements in your natal chart, this transit carries more personal weight, and Fire signs (Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius) will also feel Jupiter’s most flowing and supportive aspects, bringing ease and forward momentum. The other fixed signs Aquarius, Taurus, and Scorpio may feel more friction, which is not necessarily a bad thing; piercing through our resistance is still growth, and the friction often points directly at what is ready to change.
There is something important to say here about the shadow side of this transit, because Jupiter does not only expand the best of what Leo offers; it expands all of it. Leo’s love of recognition can turn into the need for validation that no external source can fully satisfy. The generosity that Leo is capable of can flip into over-giving as a way of gaining applause rather than offering genuine support. At its highest, Jupiter in Leo is not about becoming the main character in everyone else’s story (like a king or queen), but about understanding that your full presence, when offered freely and openly, lights the way for others to also be fully present. Real feminine leadership is leading by example, because you show others how to embrace their own leadership. You help them reflect and find their voice. This is also what we want to see in the politicians seeking our support: the recognition of our own voices rather than empty, self-centered promises. Jupiter goes retrograde in Leo from December 12, 2026 until April 13, 2027. This is the integration or inward period after a stretch of outward expression. If the first half of Jupiter in Leo is about stepping forward, the retrograde is about making sure it came from an authentic place and not from the ego’s need to perform.
