You may have heard about the predictions from the Mayan Calendar and all the planetary changes we are on the verge of. Some people believe that the end of the Mayan Calendar in December of 2012 refers to the end of the world. Others believe it is the beginning of a new era. I have read that it matches other calendars and oracles as the end of the dark ages, and some have even miscalculated it to signify the end of Kali Yuga, which is the age of darkness according to Hindu scriptures.
Of course, there are also those who think the whole thing is a hoax. No matter what you believe, what seems obvious to me is that the world events we are currently witnessing are definitely pointing at the end of the world as we know it.
There is no doubt that change is afoot. The institutions and systems we have been bound to for so long are collapsing; science is finally catching up with spirituality and stating that consciousness is the substance of all matter; and people all over the world are connecting over an invisible network (or internet) to demand fairness and freedom. Yet the most important change of all, the one that is being projected onto the external reality we perceive, is the one that is happening within each of us, whether we are truly aware of it or not.
The Significance of 11/11/11
The number 11 is a very mystical number. One represents the Divine, the Source, Pure Consciousness, Creative Energy: the Oneness we are all part of. In other words, One is our divine nature. When doubled, as in number 11, it signifies the manifestation of the One in human form. So 11 is a double One: One for the Divine and One for its individual manifestation in human form. If we add 1 + 1, we get 2, which is the illusion of being separate: an I separate from you and from everything else. Yet even all aspects of the individual personality aim to be integrated as one unity, one person, one reality, and eventually one Self.
In Vedic science, number 1 is related to the Sun, while number 2 (or 1 + 1) is ruled by the Moon. Just like the Moon reflects the light of the Sun, the individual mind reflects the light of Consciousness to ultimately merge back with it by directing the attention inward. We could as well say that 11 reflects the light of Oneness onto each individual One and eventually merges back onto Oneness, which is its nature of origin. Likewise, during meditation, the illusion of being separate (11, or 1 + 1) disappears, and we become one with the Universe.
In this sense, number 11 is the symbolic energy that drives and empowers us to become One with All: both the driving force behind the realization of our divine nature and the spiritual journey we undertake as humans. If we add up 11 + 11 + 2011, we come up with number 8, which is related to Saturn, the planet that rules over the dark side of human nature and the conscience between right and wrong. However, if we turn the 8 sideways we also get the symbol for Infinity, which represents Infinite Consciousness.
A Shift in Consciousness
As our planet shifts from a materialistic, ego-driven 3rd dimension into a higher vibrational field, individual consciousness is also shifting. Rigid institutions collapsing are nothing but the reflection of what is happening to humanity on a subtle level. It may seem confusing, but it is really time to wake up, remove our self-centered barriers, and make way for a new, community oriented age to emerge.
From this perspective, the date 11/11/11 acquires great significance as an opening or doorway for Pure Consciousness to intensify its presence on the planet and our individual reality, to bring about conscious change. And since meditation is an optimal method to merge the two Ones in 11 into a single One, there is no better way to utilize the powerful energy of 11/11/11 than to meditate. I strongly encourage you to do this in a group or on your own. Bring your attention within and merge your individuality with this divine energy and then spread it around the world with your blessings for peace, health, and abundance for all.
Please let me know if you have any unusual experiences on this auspicious day, or if it brings any unexpected changes in your life!
