Everything starts with a desire. Then your desire creates ideas and means to its fulfillment. Once those are clear, all you need is a firm decision to make things happen. That’s all it really takes; your inner creative potential does the rest.
So if it’s that simple, why do we complicate our lives and take forever to accomplish what we want? Why is it that when we’re trying to reach a goal, all sorts of life dramas and emotional distress get in the way?
Well, what may be missing here is true commitment, and its lack shows in how easily our resistance throws a monkey wrench into our plans. Commitment is not about wishing or hoping, having an intention or goal. It’s something you can count on in your soul. It’s accomplished. It’s done. It doesn’t allow hesitation or doubt or fear to creep in. It’s your inner power at work, shaping the miracles you desire. The thing is, most of us have been conditioned to be afraid of commitment.
I remember a person who came to see me for an introductory session once. As soon as I uttered the word “commitment,” she sprung off the couch ready to go, as if a terrifying chord had been struck. Mind you, this was a doctor who had obviously committed years of her life to studying and treating patients (although she was now looking for a different direction). Yet she remained paralyzed between a career she no longer wanted and her new vision, out of fear of commitment to herself.
Like everyone else, you’ve been misled to believe that once you make a choice it’s set in stone; and you’re stuck with it: a relationship, a job, a career, a business partnership, and so on. Sure, there are some fatal choices with no way back, but those are usually karmic debts you can’t avoid. In general, other possibilities still exist within the potentiality of Infinite Consciousness you’re an extension of.
However, to maintain the illusion of freedom, you’d rather avoid making choices and truly committing to bring forth the things you want. Now, if you understand that freedom comes from within, and that your experience of freedom arises from your own emotional flexibility, then there is nothing to fear. You will find creative ways to deal with situations that need change, as long as you’re emotionally committed to your own process.
Time To Trust The Spiritual Forces Within You
I think the real issue here is the fear of finding that freedom within. It’s easier to focus on something external, something you can either hold on to or reject, rather than taking full spiritual responsibility for yourself and the reality you create. Unfortunately, this is how you may find yourself in situations you didn’t anticipate because like that story about slowly boiling a frog, you couldn’t jump before you realized you were being boiled.
Without self-awareness and conscious choices, you create invisible agreements to things you cannot see, and those block the sense of self that holds the key to a meaningful and self-empowered life—a life YOU shape every step of the way, in your own terms and with the courage of a spiritual warrior.
Being committed means not letting anything get in the way of what you truly want—especially your ego-mind. It’s giving 100% of yourself in what you choose to do, regardless of any obstacles, for you recognize that you create these obstacles yourself. It requires the self-discipline to hold on to a vision or a desire long enough to gather the energy it requires to manifest within and without you. If you think about it, it’s really about dropping your fears and trusting the spiritual forces within you to take you where you’re supposed to go.
In other words, it’s allowing life to flow through you with clear focus and without resistance. This coming year will bring opportunities for you to understand that you can no longer hope and wish for the reality you want while remaining hidden and “safe” in your comfort zone. It’s time to walk your miracle talk, create your own path without a safety net, and take charge of the adventure that is your life! Are you ready?
